Beat This!

James Sokolove guest taught one of our Professional Responsibility classes on the topic of lawyer advertising. In a way it was the most enlightening class that I have attended in law school. Watching my prores professor's face, a man who is a consumate professional, as Mr. Sokolove spoke was the most entertaining part for me. Professor Simon has an amazing poker face but, knowing him as well as I do, the look on his face spoke volumes.

An Inspirational Classmate

A classmate of mine, Jacob Seilheimer, ran in and finished the Boston Marathon this past weekend. There are many people who run marathons but Jacob is somewhat unusual in that he weighed 400+ pounds when he began training 3 months ago! I know Jacob has had a rough time the past few years, for one he is in law school which is like being pecked to death by a chicken and his father passed away last year.

Here is a news story about this accomplishment and Jacob's website which is replete with training videos and Jacob's story. I encourage everyone to read up.

Second Draft Down

Quick turnaround on this one, but I handed in my second draft. The next big task is to fix my citations, this is my first time using Blue Book in lieu of ALWD and it is taking me forever to do my cites. Sooner or later I will finish this beast.

First Draft Down

The first draft of my seminar paper is in and that is quite a relief. My topic is somewhat out on the fringe and finding case law on point was difficult. The next month will be spent polishing my argument and citations then it will go out to law reviews. Hopefully someone will accept like it.

PTO on Board

Apparently the saying is true - when it rains it pours. This week I received an offer from the PTO for the summer. I had thought this would work out, after all my trademarks professor and a few others recommended me to the managing attorney there, but I had to wait quite a while to hear back from them. I figured that everything was good (for myself) when some classmates received rejections a few weeks ago. This is a very exciting opportunity because it is an amazing work experience in trademark law and hopefully will lead to a permanent position. I can't wait!

It looks like we are moving to Alexandria for a while...
